Blue-Green Algae

Blue-green algae (Cyanobacteria) has become a major concern in water systems in New Brunswick.

If anyone suspects a bloom in our lakes, please report it to the Department of Environment and Local Government (DELG) using the contact information here.

When contacting DELG to report a bloom, please complete the following screening questionnaire.

DELG will then notify the respective Regional Medical Officer of Health and the Dept. of Justice and Public Safety Regional Office (Public Health Inspectors are now under this Dept) that an algae bloom has been reported for their followup.
